Message of the day - October 18, 1997:

Hi everyone,

No, the site is not dead, I've just been awful busy lately. Also, my trusty old laptop (Apple Duo 270c) had some hard disk problems after nearly three years of dependable service. I never realized how much my productivity with respect to the railroad websites relied on that old laptop, until I had to move my e-mail and several other apps to my desktop (PowerMac 8100). Fortunately, I had purchased "AppleCare," Apple's extended warranty, and since Apple was out of 240 meg drives, they were kind enough to send a 1 gig drive as a replacement. Needless to say, I'm a happy camper! Now I can fit the whole website on my laptop again!

I did my usual first-active-day-of-the-month (way after the first of the month) update of the motive power indexes, and posted the last three images from Bill Weibel. Today I am posting the first seven of 99 or so images from contributor Kent Charles.

Oh, one last thing I should mention - I temporarily removed the SD40-2 directory to alleviate yet onother disk space crunch on www-ee. Seems the httpd log file grew to 261 megs. I take it there is some downloading going on here! ;^) Until that is resolved, we will just have to live with about 600 bum links (the dreaded 404 not found type), missing thumbnails, etc.

This web page is made from 100% recycled electrons.
