Here are a variety of GP's of the 2300 horsepower turbo variety, from Chris Stewart. BN did not buy many GP39-2's new, but the model must have been desirable as several rebuilds were made to produce "equivalents" to them. Two such rebuilds are GP39M #2822 new GP39V #2979. About 10 years ago I was quite interested in these rebuilds using GP30 and GP35 carbodies and studied them closely. At the time, the Atlas (Kato) GP30 and GP35 were in my opinion the best four axle locomotives available in N-scale. Also, I have updated the "contribute" page with info on contributing digital photos and scans as well as 35mm slides and negatives. So if you have a CD burner and a high resolution digital camera and/or film scanner, take note! Enjoy, Charles |
