Hi everyone, Today I am posting ten images from new contributor Al Seever. I just got a PhotoCD from him today of BNSF (lots of orange and green, and interestingly enough, also a shot of SW10B #442 sporting it's new BNSF road number!). It will be a couple months before I get to that. I'm actually behind on BNSF now, which is a good thing! Getting back to today's photos, there are a couple particularly interesting subjects - SD40 #6318 is an especially nice subject for N-Scalers. This unit is painted in a one-of-a-kind white face variation, and since it is an SD40, if you are an N-Scaler, I think you know what model to use. I have painted one and sold it long ago. Funny how I make a model and someone else always wants it bad enough to acquire it from me. (It looked very good and brought $120!) There was not much to the job other than relocating the horn and adding a few details if you care to take it that far. Just the paint job should be enough to get some atention! The other interesting subject is TEBUC6 #6290. People send a lot of e-mail asking what these are, often telling me they saw one of these "odd six axle switchers" and wondering what it was. They are actually "slugs" rebuilt from SD9's that have no engine, only traction motors that get power from a specially equipped unit mated to it. They are used almost exclusively in hump yard service. With the shot of 6290, I now have at least one picture of all 11 TEBUC6's. Since none will be renumbered by BNSF, it is likely that they will still wear their current paint for a while, but being in major yards, they are very close to the paint shop too.... |
