Hi everyone,
Contributor Rick Briney is certainly making life easy for me with all these EMD GP30 photos taken mostly in Lincoln, NE in 1981. Since I still do my web pages the old fashioned text editor way it's mostly cut and paste from one number to the next. Since the opportunity to present before and after photos of units in pre-BN paint is pretty rare, I should point out GP30 #2243 CB&Q Chinese Red paint with BN number, and BN Cascade Green. Also for those into details, note that GP30 #2249 has headlights on both the nose and the top of the cab, or the "low" and "high" positions. I am not an expert on CB&Q lighting, but believe most units originally had headlights in both positions, with the low light being normal, and the high light being a gyralite in the upper position and a red light in the lower position as shown by GP9 #1972. The light on the top of the cab is not of the same style as on this GP9, so I really don't have a good explanation for it's existence on the 2249. Enjoy, Charles |
