Hi everyone,
Check your calendars, it is not April Fools Day. This time it's the real thing. If you don't know what I mean by the April Fool's Day reference, my little prank for 2009 resembles these photos. Credit is due to Steve Goen for coming up with the story. Last month, rather than chase trains in the snow and ice, I scanned 1000+ slides from Moss E. Hulsey's collection. These are among the first I scanned, and they are among the oldest. There was a lot of WP and a little MRL, but most of what I scanned was BN with a little bit of BN predecessor material. Unlike last month's BN oldies, these all have dates, and all five are older than I am! While the CB&Q SW1000's are nice, especially being relatively new in 1969, the real gem of this batch is FW&D SD7 #854. Way back around 1997, this site was much smaller, and I had separate sites for C&S and FW&D. The FW&D site was almost silly to have with only two locomotive photos, also SD7's, but in BN green. Of course I hoped for more, and now some 14 years later, I actually do have one more. I think there was one or two GP38-2's that came along since I gave up on maintaining a separate FW&D BN era site. These five are about all for this paint scheme, but I do have about 40 in the CB&Q red. There are a few duplicate slides that I may not post since I never know the origin of those, but as for the originals, expect them to follow soon. Maybe even this month! Enjoy, Charles |
