Hi everyone,
Today we have quite the smorgasboard of four axle GE power from contributor Rick Briney. I've gone through a variety of GE's for the past few days, but today is the only time I am featuring U-series, dash-7 series, and a dash-8 series GE's. The BN had no six axle dash-8's, so to do all three with the same four axle wheel arrangement is a feat that I may not repeat again. Opportunities to do this are few, since there are only three dash-8 series GE's to wear BN paint, those being the B32-8's such as B32-8 #5499 which depending on how you look at it, served a short span of 7 years, or a pretty long span for a what were preproduction demonstrators. The units were successful enough, as BN predecessor orders of GE's like the the U30B were not exactly large, and BN did obtain 100 dash-8's in the form of LMX B39-8E's. Opportunities to post dash-7's are plentiful given the large rosters of C30-7's and cabless B30-7A's, but the B30-7's such as B30-7 #5488 that did have cabs are a rare treat, as BN had only 8, all inherited from the Frisco. Enjoy, Charles |
