Hi everyone, First, I did my usual first-active-day-of-the-month (not on the 1st, this thime though) update of the motive power indexes. Last month I definitely did slow down a bit. A bit more than I intended. I found out on rather short notice that I was going to take a vacation to Minnesota to visit some relatives. Don't worry, I brought my camera and drove both ways, taking the scenic route up the Mississippi River. Got quite a few good shots (though few on the river route itself), just shy of a dozen BNSF units, and about 80 BN units. Even a little Santa Fe! Not only did I see a lot of trains, I managed to meet Bill Weibel, Chris Stewart, and Ken Kessler, all recent BN Archive contributors, and also had a surprise meet with Robert C. Del Grosso, the author of the BN Annuals from 1980 to present. It was a pleasure to meet each one of them. Once that vacation was over, it was time to get to work. Did that a week ago, and now I have a three day weekend, so time for some fun with trains once again. Here are more images from new contributor, Bill Weibel. I'm just over halfway through the nearly 400 BN slides Bill sent for me to pick through (280 of which I scanned, not 320 - I miscounted). It will take most of this month, Perhaps longer at the rate I'm going lately to post them all. Most of the slides in this collection are from the early eighties, so there are several shots of units no longer on the roster, and several ex-Frisco units still in Frisco colors but with BN lettering and number. All ten of today's images are EMD SD7's and SD9's that BN inherited from predecessor roads. |
