Message of the day - July 31, 2012:

Hi everyone,

Last month wound up being a vacation from the BN in order to spend some quality time on the ATSF. Not for the site, for the historical society convention in Temple, TX. I've been scanning old ATSF slides too, including some original Kodachromes dating back to the 1950's, and they were very well received there. Maybe one of these years I will attend a similar FOBNR convention.

Speaking of scanning old slides, I'm still working on more from the Moss E. Hulsey collection. Today I am picking up where I left off in November 2011, with more ex-NP units still in NP paint. Not only that, I have what I think is the first NP unit I've ever posted, a photo of NP U25C #2525 taken a few months after the BN merger, but before the unit got it's BN number applied.

I know there aren't many of you out there, but I do occasionally hear of people looking for predecessor units that survived past the merger for a while so they can run them with BN units and still be legit.

Enjoy,
Charles
