Message of the day - December 12, 2007:

Hi everyone,

Here are the last of the GP9's from contributor Cliff West for the time being, as well as one GP20.

The way the weather has been lately in Texas, expect some more BN from Cliff and BNSF from Dan this month. I haven't been trackside much lately, so it's nice to have help!

Oh, and if you do not yet own a 1080p HDTV, consider getting one soon. Be sure to get one that you can hook up to your computer via DVI or HDMI, or using some other device that you can otherwise view the 1920x1140 images I've been posting lately on. In my case I got a DVI to HDMI cable so I can connect various Macs to my TV. If PC is your preference, many PC cards can do this to. I've got a lowly ATI Radeon 7000 in a 400 MHz G3 (PCI no less - not even AGP) capable of DVI output at 1920x1080 that does quite nicely.

Yes, I recently got such a TV. I just have to say that I expected that viewing photos of this size would be particularly enjoyable on such a TV. To say I had the right idea would be an understatement. If you think video looks great at 1080p, wait until you see a still image where there is little to no motion blur. It doesn't quite beat a sharp original slide projected on a big screen, but it's close. Very close.

Enjoy,
Charles
