Hi everyone, Well, last time I started on what I could call "the best of the Moss E. Hulsey collection." One day several months ago, I dropped by Moss' place with about 100 really nice SP slides, and talked him into letting me borrow some of his best BN slides out of his precious carousels to scan for the website. I left with 144 slides, and the next seven days will be all photos by Moss. I don't know where to start on today's shots. I guess the standout is Moss' exceptional (best I've ever seen of this unit) shot of one-of-a-kind GP38B #2600, which has since been rebuilt back to a more conventional GP38-2 #2136. Two other one-of-a-kind B-units are also part of Moss' collection, SD40B #7600 and U30CB #4500. I was also happy to see some E-unit shots taken by with Mike Bledsoe from Moss. I thought when I started this that the rebuilt E's would be pretty common in people's collections, but this has not proven true. I've done well picking up the last of the F's, which ran in a much less densely populated area than Chicago in their final years, and ten years earlier. I guess I just need to meet the right person from Chicago. Also, for before and after lovers, there is a rather rare repaint for you to check out - SD9 #6236 before and after being one of the two high nose SD9's repainted in an interesting variation of the BN whiteface scheme. This unit should now be sublettered BNSF and wearing the number 6132. If you have a good slide of it, I have a nice slide of 6108 (Heritage I high nose) to trade. It's days like this that make maintaing this site fun! |
